I am delighted to announce the publication of my new book for Lion Children’s Books Babushka, written by Dawn Casey.

Babushka – a book to be treasured

The story of the gift-giver Babushka has delighted generation with its linking of the Wise Men story with the traditions of Christmas. Lion has previously

published the story with three different illustration styles. This version, with Amanda Hall’s detailed illustrations lovingly researched and crafted, promises to be a new classic that will delight publisher and readers for many years.

Babushka published on the 18th September 2015 by Lion Children’s Books in the UK.

Brother Giovanni’s Little Reward Publication 3rd August 2015

Brother Giovanni’s Little Reward Publication 3rd August 2015

I am excited to announce the publication of my new book Brother Giovanni’s Little Reward - How the Pretzel Was Born, written by Anna Egan Smucker.

The entertaining story of a serendipitous invention

‘Brother Giovanni is a happy man, content to do what he knows best: baking. But all is not well at his monastery, where the monks are trying to teach the children their prayers in time for a very important visit from the Bishop. Having tried everything, they turn to Giovanni — but he doesn’t know anything about teaching! Eventually, though, Brother Giovanni discovers how to use his gifts to offer the children the perfect motivation and invents the tasty treat we now know as the pretzel.

This vibrant book, which includes a historical note and a pretzel recipe, tells the fascinating story behind one of the world’s most popular snacks.’

Brother Giovanni’s Little Reward will be published on the 3rd August 2015 by Eerdmans Books for Young Readers in the US and distributed by Alban Books in the UK.
