Description
The Barefoot Book of Animal Tales has become established as a children’s book classic. This collection of animal tales, retold by storyteller Naomi Adler, has been in print since 1996 and has been published in ten different countries.
The nine stories include timeless favourites such as The Musicians of Bremen as well as less widely known international discoveries. Naomi’s storytelling on the accompanying CDs has an animated, playful quality conveying the humour in the tales. ‘Tiddalick started to quiver, the quiver got larger until it became a giggle, the giggle got larger and larger until it became a gurgle, the gurgle got larger and larger until the whole earth shook and trembled.’ From The Greedy Frog from Australia.
The illustrations are the biggest selling point for Barefoot Books and this collection doesn’t disappoint. The lovely, intricate illustrations by Amanda Hall are created in styles which suit the country of origin of the tales while remaining original.
